Q. What's laser treatment?

Answer- Laser full form is "light amplification by stimulated emission of radiation". treatment is a scientific technology which can heal your skin problems. If you have any scar on your body so you can get laser treatment but firstly you should consult it with your doctor. Before doing laser treatment every doctor checks the scar and the patient's conditions. If the patient is a pregnant lady or the patient is already taking medicines for other diseases then they can't do the laser treatment. 

Q.How many types of scars can be treated by laser treatment?

Q.How many types of lasers we can see in treatment?

Answer- (1) Ablative fractional carbon dioxide laser- AFR is a new modality which combines carbon dioxide with fractional photothermolysis. Some Chinese patients took this treatment and eighty-six percent of patients were fully satisfied with this laser treatment.

(2) Intense pulsed light- People called it photofacial also. It's a therapy to improve the colour & texture of your skin without surgery. If you take medicines for some other reasons or you are pregnant then you shouldn't do this therapy.

(3)Long-pulsed 1064-nm Nd:YAG- it's used for wrinkle reduction & skin laxity.

(4) Non Ablative fractional laser- its use in darker skin types.

(5) Pulsed dye laser- A dye laser uses an organic dye mixed in a solvent. We can find rhodamine, fluorescein,coumarin and stilbene in the laser dyes. In solvents they include water,glycol,ethanol,methanol,hexane,cyclohexane.

(6) Q-switched Nd:YAG- if you want to remove hair from your body and if you have pigment issues on your body or you want to remove a tattoo then this laser treatment will help you a lot. It targets the problem of your skin and you will not get any harm. You will be safe. After treatment you will get good effects.

Q.Is there any guidelines for patients before the laser treatment?

Answer- Yes! There are some major guidelines!

(1) Avoid taking medicines before it increases the risk of bleeding.

(2) For 2-4 weeks avoid products which contain glycolic acid and retinoid.

(3) Not expose skin to sunlight for extended periods.

(4) Don't use cosmetic products.

(5) If you do smoke then don't smoke for 2 weeks.

Q.How do they do laser treatment?

Answer- Let me give you an example;

(1) Firstly the doctor will clean the area around the scar and apply a numbing cream.

(2) If you have a scar on the face then you will wear protective goggles.

(3) Doctors will place wet towels around the scar area for skin safety.

(4) Doctor will pass the laser over the scar tissue. They will apply a water solution.

(5) After treatment the doctor will apply ointment on the scar area.

The treated area will be red for some hours but you don't worry.
